Fed up with eating poor quality bread, Jock turned from building houses to baking bread! We are members of 'Sustain', the Campaign for Real Bread and all our bread is allowed to ferment over a long period of time. Our real bread consists only of flour, water, salt and either a minimal amount of yeast or a sourdough starter and we do not use any additives such as improvers, dough conditioners, enzymes or preservatives. Our loaves are shaped by hand and stone baked which helps develop a lovely crust. Producing real bread at an affordable price is our passion.
We source our ingredients locally whenever possible and are currently using flour that is made from Scottish wheat, grown and milled by Mungoswells Farm in East Lothian, flour from Carr's Hutchisons in Kirkcaldy as well as speciality flour from Shipton Mill in Gloucestershire.
